It's hard to believe the semester is almost over! We recently celebrated March Madness and NC State's monumental drive to the Final Four with a friendly competition against other ACC Hillels, raising $20,000 in our bid to #1. We're now gearing up for Passover celebrations at all our campuses.

Israel Summit

Over 800 Jewish student leaders convened in Atlanta last month for Hillel’s annual Israel Summit, including a dozen students representing NC Hillel. The conference provided top level training on Israel education and advocacy, as well as panels from leading geopolitical experts, Israel scholars, and community leaders around the world.

“After the last few months of tension and turmoil, the summit was a powerful experience where I found myself in awe of the Jewish community and reinvigorated by the spirit and strength it gives me. I'm excited to share this love with my campus at UNC Chapel-Hill!” (Molly M, UNC '27)

NC Hillel in Cleveland and DC

Our involvement in Hillel International’s Campus Climate Initiative (CCI) continues to prove beneficial as the program enters its fifth cohort and is now on more than 75 campuses. Last month, we represented NC Hillel as 100 participants from 30 universities met to discuss how campus administrators and Hillels can work together to reestablish a safe and positive campus climate for Jewish students.

Hannah with UNC's Vice Provost of Equity and Inclusion & Chief Diversity Officer, Leah Cox, at CCI Conference.

Hannah with Rep. Kathy Manning, NCJW CEO Sheila Katz, and Greensboro Jewish Foundation Director Susan Gutterman.

Hannah also attended the National Council of Jewish Women’s 130 Years of Changemaking event honoring Rep. Kathy Manning for her leadership in combating antisemitism. It was a wonderful NC reunion with NCJW CEO (and former NC Hillel professional!) Sheila Katz, and Greensboro Jewish Foundation Director Susan Gutterman. Community leaders and activists spoke about how instrumental working together is to create change and stand up against hate.

Statewide Purim Ball

Hillel @ NC State students hosted our Statewide Signature Purim Masquerade Ball for 85 students from nine NC colleges on March 23rd. The night included Havdalah, dancing and, of course, celebrating March Madness victories for UNC and NC State!

  • Night at the Museum for Hillel @ NC State

We have arranged a special night at North Carolina Museum of Art for our Hillel @ NC State students - they will have a private tour of NCMA's collection, including their world renown Judaic collection.

  • 2nd Annual Day Against Hate

App State Hillel, along with AEPi and the Center for Judaic, Holocaust, and Peace Studies, are hosting the 2nd Annual Day Against Hate at App. This event helps to raise awareness of and educate against antisemitism.
