The Bina Initiative: Exploring Israel is being renamed for 2008 as talkspace: Israel
The Bina Initiative/talkspace: Israel is an Israel exploration program sponsored by NC Hillel for Carolina students, faculty and staff that runs for ten weeks during the spring semester. talkspace: Israel explores the many facets of Israel through guest speakers, film, contemporary articles, music, self-reflection, literature, and politics. talkspace: Israel is a forum for open and frank discussion, pluralistic viewpoints, and critical thinking, so people from all backgrounds are welcome. Past sessions have included learning about contemporary Israeli society through rock 'n roll and talking about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with an Israeli world peace fellow and a Palestinian student.
The program meets on Thursday evening from 5:15-7:00PM from mid-January through the beginning of April at NC Hillel.
Dinner or snacks (catered by Med Deli or pot luck) are provided for most sessions.
Each participant will also be awarded an honorarium of $150.
Applications for 2008 are now closed, but you can email Sheila for more information for spring, 2009.
